After reading the pamphlet I found many of its facts to be surprising and interesting. First of all I had no idea that German ancestry was such a common trait. As the article says there isn't a really a showing of German patriotism in Germany let alone in the US so it was never apparent that there was this many Germans. Furthermore, I always had the misconception the article discusses that the celebration of German culture was given up in response to WW1. After reading that this abandonment of German things was more due to natural assimilation it is surprising to me. Overall, the pamphlet increased my desire to do German things, eat German food, and hopefully learn the German language.
